In WWE NXT, 24 year old Patrick Clark is better known as The Velveteen Dream, and is one of the most popular characters on the brand. He is currently set to face NXT Champion Adam Cole for the title, but his actions online could have just ruined his entire career. There is a developing situation involving The Velveteen Dream and some young fans on Instagram.
What We Know
Earlier today, Velveteen Dream would post to his Instagram story that his ‘DM’s are open’ which lead many of his fans to take this chance to contact Dream himself. This would be deleted about 45 minutes later, but by then the damage was already done. Despite the fans being under aged, the conversation would become sexual and he would send nude pictures of himself. The fans would take to reddit to speak on the situation, and this was the provided evidence. “The evidence that it is him is as follows – his phone number is Washington area code, his voice in the calls was accurate, it was off of his verified Instagram account and the picture he sent is believable”
Looking into the voice clip and picture, which have since been shared around the internet would make this very believable. The fan was apparently blocked after they would not send a nude picture back. We have seen both accounts that it was girls in the DM’s, and also that it was three boys. The only consistent piece of information here is that they were all under 18 years old.
Could Velveteen Dream Have Been Hacked?
A common theory at the moment is that Velveteen Dream had his Instagram account hacked, leading to this incident. There has only been one mentioned account of him in the DM’s, which seems unlikely if someone with 161 thousand followers stated his DM’s were wide open. If someone was able to get into his Instagram account, accessing a service like iCloud to get the sent picture would also be fairly simple. This is a theory, and just that. There has been nothing confirmed on this front at this time. We should not that at the time of writing this, there has been no official response regarding this situation from Velveteen Dream or WWE.
If this was a hacker situation, Dream should have his name cleared and double down on his cyber security. But if this was all the doing of the man himself, he deserves to be immediately terminated from his WWE contract. This is above all things a developing situation, so more details that will help make the situation more clear will be put out to the public.
