The big story on this day in wrestling is surrounding 24 year old Patrick Clark, best known as The Velveteen Dream. Screen caps of lewd conversation and pictures were posted online following him opening his Instagram DM’s earlier today. When we last posted on The Overtimer about this situation, there was no statement from either Velveteen Dream or WWE. That has now changed, as Dream has taken to Twitter to clear his name.
Velveteen Dream Claims To Have Been Hacked
The theory that has been accepted by most is that Velveteen Dream was hacked in this scenario, and his statement supports this. “Be assured I did not communicate inappropriately with anyone. A private photo of mine was shared without my consent or knowledge and I am working with a third party to look into this matter.”
WWE has not made a public statement on this, but are more than likely aware of the situation and looking into it, so we can expect their statement in the future. If Dream has been hacked, this will likely not effect his career. Leaked nudes are an issue that in recent years have effected many superstars, from Seth Rollins & Paige to current NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair. If Dream was hacked, he was the victim in this scenario.
However, Dream only addresses one part of this situation, and has yet to make a comment on the leaked audio clip.
Is The Audio Unrelated?
The most damning piece of evidence against Dream was a brief voice message clip sent during the conversation, which while possible to have been faked or pulled from something over Dreams career, could be unlikely. It was Dream asking ‘What school do you go to?’.
This on it’s own would not be a scandal, but when added to the rest of the situation it simply adds to the fire. There is a chance the audio is a Deepfake, as with modern technology it wouldn’t be hard to fake the voice of someone when there is so much content to sample. This is still very much a developing story, and we are not taking any side at this time. As more information comes out, we will do our best to shift through it and get you the story.
