Edge comes out and says a lot of people called his return a miraculous comeback but in his world there are no what-ifs. He made it back here to end things under his own terms. So what left? Edge says he knows WrestleMania is not the end for Edge. If you watched the video last week, you saw the video package promoting that Edge would be back hunting for the Viper. But they didn’t come to him first. Edge says he got his pound of flesh, and he and his family are ready to move on. Randy Orton interrupts. Randy pauses, nods. Eventually he says that he came out here to just say one thing. Another bit of rumination. Orton says congratulations. Edge is flabbergasted. Orton admits that at WrestleMania, the better man one. Orton nods and then makes his leave…
Except no. He comes back and says he wanted to be the bigger man but he just couldn’t. He wants to think the two of them are going to ride off together like the good old days but it’s not true. He says yes the better man did win at WrestleMania but the better wrestler did not. Says when Edge came back at the Royal Rumble he could hide between 29 other superstars. At WrestleMania they faced off in a Last Man Standing match, a stip that Edge picked and yeah, Orton might not have been able to beat the ten count but it didn’t take him nine years to get back on his feet. Orton says to him, Royal Rumble, Last Man Standing, those aren’t traditional latches. Claims that Edge can’t hang anymore in a regular match. Tells him grit and passion are his strong suits but none of that will help him now, no chance in hell. Says he went on record to say that Orton is a future hall of famer and after coming back to Raw he was gonna make him a better performer. So he thinks the story writes itself. Tells him if he’s got the guts, then at Backlash it will be Edge vs. Orton in a straight-up wrestling match. Edge is silent in respond for a while. The interviewer girl says if this does happne it might just be the greatest SummerSlam match ever. Edge still hasn’t replied as we fade to black in eerie silence.
