AEW Dynamite continues following that shocking debut of FTR. Jon Moxley makes his way out to the announce table. He talks about how he feels like crap after his match with Brodie Lee, hasn’t been able to do much other than sit on his couch since Saturday. Notes how already he has another monster in Brian Cage breathing down his neck. We see some highlights of the Ladder match and Mox marvels at the damage Darby Allin took.
Brian Cage vs. Lee Johnson
Cage immediately jumps Lee Johnson before the bell, clobbers him into the corner, series of hard clotheslines and a wicked biel throw! Meanwhile QT Marshall is flexing for Allie. Cage clobbers him in the corner, then tosses him around the ring with a huuuuge German Suplex! Pantomimes a cigarette grinding in the back, ruthless powerbomb, then pulls him right back up for a massive Buckle Bomb! Drillclaw drives him right onto his head! Cover for the victory, Lee didn’t get so much as a token punch in.
Winner: Brian Cage
That’s as pure a squash match as possible, AEW sure has some strong ones. They were already Hoss Country but my God. Cage may actually be the single greatest hoss in wrestling. Massive, massive threat to anybody and an easy one to make into a world title contender in a hurry, so it certainly works out that they’re just jumping right to it the way they are.
Afterwards, Taz gets on the mic and talks to Moxley. Says he grinds and grinds and has been super successful, he’s the top guy, he’s the AEW World Champion. But at Fyter Fest he’s dealing with something different, he’s dealing with a machine. He wants Moxley to bring that fire he’s known for, he wants him to bring that grit he’s known for. Because big boy is gonna rip his heart right out of his chest. Demands he understand that that’s Brian Cage, the Machine… beat him if you can, survive if he lets you. Moxley is smiling at that. Says this is gonna be fun as he stands up and locks eyes with Cage.
This already has a pretty cool vibe to it. Mox vs. Cage with Taz backing him up. A departure from the stable feuds Mox has been dealing with but a major threat in a totally different way.
