AEW Dynamite continues. We then see a promo from MJF talking about the upcoming battle royal. Says in the ring he’s perfection and on the microphone, c’est magnifique. Claims he’s already a top star and he didn’t have to come from somewhere else to make it happen. MJF says he’s been undefeated for over a year now, yet he still hasn’t received a title shot. Someone in the office must not like him too much… thankfully that someone in the office is holding a battle royal with a shot at the TNT Championship on the line. So he’s gonna be in there with Wardlow as his insurance policy and when it’s down to just the two of them, War Dog knows what to do. Wardlow utters, “But…” and MJF is quick to turn around and scream “BUT NOTHING”! Tense staredown until MJF laughs it off and says he got him! He walks away but Wardlow is still looking rather stern… we then move onto the battle royal itself! Billy Gunn is in, and Orange Cassidy is still on his way out when the bell rings.
Battle Royal For A Shot At The TNT Championship
As Cassidy is still on the ramp, Santana and Ortiz attack him with the madballs! Meanwhile the fighting starts intensely in the ring. Marko throwing hands with Dr. Luther, no effect. Luther shoots him off the ropes for a pop-up knee! Luchasaurus stalks him, goozles him but Luther fights back. Marko grabs him by the throat but gets a biel for his troubles! Lucha with a Tail Whip! Goozles him again and there’s the Chokeslam right over the top rope and to the apron for the elimination! Dr. Luther is eliminated. Sonny Kiss with a hurricarana on MJF, handspring Axe Kick nailed but Wardlow tosses him! Sonny Kiss has been eliminated. MJF rushes from the ring to stomp on Kiss on the floor, cheap shots!
Colt Cabana and MJF squaring off now, Colt wins out a strike exchange. Ducks a few shots from Gunn, Flip Flop And Fly takes him to the corner! And tries the same for Max but he stops him, Colt ducks a clothesline and goes for the Flying Apple on Gunn but he catches him out of the air and takes him to the floor! Colt Cabana has been eliminated. As the brawl continues, Colt Cabana is being courted by one of the Dark Order at ringside. Marko is being held by the head by Billy as he sends a thousand body shots into his gut to no avail. Commercial break.
Match continues in the inset though. Billy almost gets Jungleboy with a ram into the turnbuckle! Avalon and Cutler square off in the center, been at odds for a long time. Cutler hoists him up and tries to slam him over the top but Avalon slips behind him, tries to dump him but it’s blocked. Cutler with a back body drop, ends up crotching him! Cutler rushes for a big boot but it’s avoided and he crotches himself! Avalon laughs at him and they exchange punches from that position until they go to the apron! They’re grappling it out… Cutler clips the arms, they both fall to the floor! Brandon Cutler and Peter Avalon have been eliminated.
Jungle with a back elbow off a Billy Gunn charge, fights out of the corner until Billy surprises him with a Fameasser! Wardlow with shoulder thrusts to Gunn, Luchasaurus with a corner clothesline to Gunn, Wardlow plows through Lucha! Marko Stunt facing off with Wardlow now! Slips between his legs, springboard dropkick, Daniels knocks Wardlow over with a charging forearm! Marko ranas Daniels over the top rope!! Christopher Daniels has been eliminated! Wardlow hoists Marko up, military presses him onto Daniels! Marko Stunt has been eliminated. Lucha goozles MJF but Wardlow pulls him away and now the big men are exchanging punches… Luchasaurus with a headbutt! Wants a chokeslam but Max cuts him off with a chop block! Billy Gunn takes the fight to him, until Lucha gets whipped him into him. Now they’re squaring off instead! Exchange of right hands, lock up and they near the ropes… MJF and Wardlow dump them both! Luchasaurus and Billy Gunn have been eliminated!
Jungleboy, MJF and Wardlow are the last in – except Orange Cassidy finally rolls into the ring! He gets into a shoving match with MJF but doesn’t really try. Wardlow hooks him for a big diamond ring punch but Cassidy ducks it and MJF punches his own guy! Cassidy side-steps a charge and Jungle back body drops MJF to the floor! MJF has been eliminated! Then a double low bridge sends Wardlow to the floor! Wardlow has been eliminated! Cassidy gets into wrassling mode, headscissor, Superman Punch and than a Flying Elbow to the face! Tries to dump him but Jungleboy bounces back for a massive clothesline! Headscissor takes Orange all the way to the floor, barely holds onto the top rope and that is that!
Winner: Jungleboy
They did that in such a way where if Jungle didn’t manage to hold onto the top rope he’d have hit the floor first and that’s put over quickly, nicely done. So it’s Jungleboy going after Cody first! Very cool! I picked Dustin Rhodes who was not even in the match. That’s what happens when they’re vague like that, what can I say?
