At NXT Takeover: In Your House, Adam Cole was able to defeat The Velveteen Dream in the Backlot Brawl match. With that victory, Cole ensureed that we wouldn’t be seeing Dream challenge him again. During this match, Dexter Lumis proved to be more than just a thorne in the side of the Undisputed Era. He would come into the match, and shove Roderick Strong & Bobby Fish into the trunk of a car before driving off. They would escape fine, and Cole would look to get revenge for them in a non-title match. Would Lumis be able to beat Cole when he’s not at 100%?
Dexter Lumis Gets The Better Of Adam Cole
Cole would lock up with Lumis early, and provoke his opponent before stomping him in the corner. This wouldn’t be effective, and Lumis would beat him down and send Cole to the outside with ease. He would go out to continue beating on Cole, but the slight distraction from Bobby Fish would give Cole a short advantage. This wouldn’t stick, as Lumis would throw Cole around the ring. With Cole resting on the middle rope after being tossed, Lumis would slither underneath to hit an uppercut.
Cole would try to come back with a pump kick, but be caught and hit with a huge haymaker and roll to the apron. Lumis would follow him, but a kick to the head would send him to the apron as we went into the commercial break.
Lumis Shrugs Off Damage
Over the break, Cole would regain control and have Lumis in a submission before hitting the Backstabber. Some mounted punches wouldn’t do much than annoy Lumis, and trash talk would piss him off. He’d shrug off strikes, before a spinning neckbreaker would drop him. Staying on the offense, Cole would hit another neckbreaker. Pain was starting to register on Lumis, but he’d remain defiant and goad Cole on, eating strikes before firing up to hit some right hands. Cole would be sent into the corner, but a lariat followed by a bulldog from Lumis would drop him, and a suplex would get the near fall. A countered superkick would find Cole being hit with a German Suplex for another near fall.
Adam Cole Gets Some Help
A kick to the knee would drop Lumis, but he’d dodge the Last Shot and go for his Anaconda Vice. Cole would avoid this, and hit a superkick for a near fall. He’d miss a second Last Shot, and be hit with a spinebuster. Lumis would be sent to the outside and Cole would distract the ref, giving Strong & Fish a chance to attack, but Lumis had other ideas. He’d slip under the ring and pop out the other side, and hit Cole with another Spinebuster. A senton bomb off the top rope would find Lumis hitting the knees of Cole.
Going for Panama Sunrise, Cole would be caught in the Anaconda Vice. He’d struggle around the ring, but it would take a shot from Roderick Strong on the outside to break the hold, while Fish distracted the referee. A successful Last Shot would be enough to put Lumis down, giving Undisputed Era revenge.
A New Challenger Approaches
Dexter Lumis looked insanely strong against the NXT Champion, and it took three men to stop him. Cole would brag above Lumis, who would pop up and lock in the submission. Fish & Strong would come in to help Cole, but Dream would run in to make the save to make things even with Lumis. They’d run off Fish & Strong.
At this point, the lights would dim and Scarlett would walk to the ring and stare down Cole before showing an hourglass, and flip it. Tick tock Cole, Kross is coming next for you. Do you think this signals the start of the end for Cole? Will Dream & Lumis become a tag team? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
