While most results from NXT Takeover: In Your House came as expected, few imagined that Karrion Kross vs. Tomassao Ciampa would go as it did. We all knew that Ciampa had no chance. This was the first big match of Kross, who is clear to be getting a huge push to the top of NXT, if not WWE as a whole. However, this match would end in a matter of mere minutes. Ciampa only lasted 6 minutes, the shortest match he ever had at a Takeover event. This merely confirms that there Kross is set for huge things. Will he be the one to take Adam Cole down?
Ciampa vs. Kross Reminded Fans Of Cena vs. Lesnar
Usually, a top name on a brand will defeat the monster heel. This has some notable exceptions, namely when Lesnar destroyed John Cena like he was the Brooklyn Brawler. This match with Kross drew many comparisons to that match, with Ciampa being thrown around like a child, and even being hit with something resembling an F5 before being choked out. The last time Ciampa was treated like this was when he faced Samoa Joe all the way back in 2015.
Adam Cole Was Able To Beat Velveteen Dream, And Needs A New Challenger
As per the stipulation of the NXT Championship match, Velveteen Dream with his loss can not challenge Adam Cole for the title anymore. Because of this, we will need a new challenger to step up. Dexter Lumis could get a shot due to being a major thorn in the side of Undisputed Era and even kidnapping Strong & Fish during the Backlot Brawl. However, it is only a matter of time before Kross gets a chance at the NXT Championship, and it’s hard to imagine Cole lasting much longer than Ciampa did on this night. With rumors of Cole leaving NXT still swirling despite his victory, being absolutely dismantled by the next big thing in WWE would be a helluva way to go. It would be a rare heel vs. heel title match, but with Cole being a fan favorite in his own unique way, it would work.
