Another episode of AEW Dynamite is on tap for this evening! This tag division focused episode includes the Young Bucks in their first 2-on-2 match on Dynamite since February, as they face off against a team that’s formed in that interim, the Superbad Death Squad comprised of Kip Sabian and Jimmy Havoc! You can expect the same coverage of tonight’s show as always and since I’m getting to it early enough this go ’round, that includes previews of all the biggest matches! Let’s get to it!
The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) vs. The Superbad Death Squad (Jimmy Havoc & Kip Sabian)
I don’t always use the team name for Havoc and Sabian because they don’t always announce them that way either and on some level I don’t really expect it to stick, it’s just kind of a mouthful. If it does become familiar enough, people will undoubtedly take to calling them SDS (SBDS?) instead or shorten it some other way. Either way they’ve looked good in their pasting outings, most of which have consisted of Dark squashes but they’re also coming off a surprise title opportunity where they put on a good show against the champs. They blend technique, athleticism and brutality, all joined together with a shared love of inventive dirty tactics. It makes them a pretty unique tandem stylistically, but they’re taking quite a step up here in going up against the Bucks.
For Matt and Nick, it’s been a roller-coaster of a few months. Real-life children being born and on-screen brutal injuries, quarantine life and even a legit injury with Matt’s leap off the goalposts a few weeks back. They’re lucky to be in the ring tonight in all honesty. And I’m sure they’re itching to go, as while they were part of a trios match just two weeks ago, this is actually their first traditional tag match since the classic against Omega and Hangman at Revolution, and their first on Dynamite since February 5th. That’s a little bit wild.
The Bucks of course have their recently arrived natural rivals to worry about as the impending, long-awaited match against FTR looms large. But fortunately it seems like Cash and Dax aren’t looking to soften them up or interfere in their matches, for fear of leaving room for any excuses when the time comes. Bucks to win and gain some momentum heading into what should be a monumental match.
