ECW Original C.W Anderson Announces Retirement

After 27 years of being in the ring, C.W Anderson has called it a career. The ECW original, last seen in the revival of the NWA has officially announced his retirement in a video message on Facebook.

C.W Anderson Has Lost His Passion For The Industry

In this emotional video message, he would say the following. “I lost my love for it, the passion that I had, and I said when I stopped loving it, I would walk away” . This is as good as any reason to walk from an industry like professional wrestling. He laments the lost time during his career as well, saying the following. “I’ve missed Christmas parties, I’ve missed birthday parties, I’ve missed so much, being this guy. I forgot what was important. I lost loved ones, just to play wrestler.”

He is someone who gave his all for wrestling over the years, and despite stints in WWE, WCW, and most importanly ECW, he never got the huge fame that you want for that sacrifice. Now 49 years old, his time has finally come.

A Sign That The National Wrestling Alliance Is Dead Again

News would break a few days ago, that the NWA would be halting production of their shows until atleast January 2021. This could be due to a few factors, namely loss of income during COVID-19 and Dave Lagana being caught up in the #SpeakingOut movement, but they’re on shakey legs right now. Contracts have been released until January 2021, but this could have been the final straw for someone like Anderson. He has just earned a contract with the company earlier this year, before everything would be shut down.

All through his career, in both major companies & promotions like MLW, ROH and recently the NWA, C.W Anderson was always a treat in the ring. While it seems like he looks back on his time in the ring as a waste, he brought joy to many fans, and we thank him for that.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
