CBS “The Young and the Restless” Spoilers here with a new throwback spoiler for everyone to enjoy as we get ready for another fun episode.
This one is going to strike a lot of us interesting as it’s set shortly after Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) learned he’d killed his father. Of course, that was right before the pandemic shut down production of new episodes, so we’ve been left waiting impatiently for things to resume so we can learn whether Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) was telling the truth or not.
In many ways, it appears he was as he’d always been very protective of his children, but especially Adam — who when this episode aired on March 19, 1997, was played by Hayden Tank — as he returned to the ranch and stayed there a while as he looked to make a fresh start with things.

Home again
In many ways, it was a classic “going home again” type of moment, and it had a touching scene with young Adam and Victor as Victor brought Adam a pair of boxing gloves and showed him some of the basics. While this was happening, they struck up a conversation and Victor told Adam to call him by his proper name.
This is one of those moments that feel like we don’t see them enough, but they’ve been frequent through the years as Victor taught each of his children to box, often explaining how the principles could be translated to life and the countless problems they could run into.
Excited at his present, Adam set to air box in front of a mirror while Victor watched, then joined Hope Wilson (Signy Coleman).
Hope was pleased to have Victor there and bonding with their son. This meant the world to her, as there were undoubtedly times she doubted Victor would or could return to visit given his busy life in Genoa City. Victor had promised her that Adam would always have a father.
It was that gesture and his following through on it that explained a large part of their relationship. Victor’s a man of his word, as he’s shown time and time again. He engenders trust and hope, and carries with him a sense of family and belonging that makes others feel like they belong, even if for just a short time.
It’s what makes him who he is, and has helped keep us entertained for so many years.
