We have likely seen the end of Ember Moon as we knew her. The daring high flyer who thrived on her agilty to finish opponents has been out of action for months now. She tore her ACL during a wild chase for the 24/7 Championship, then held by Carmella. Putting her all into that chase would end with her stopping, and something just feeling wrong. She’d been on the mend ever since, and it’s worse than people originally thought.
Ember Moon Doesn’t Have A Generic ACL Tear
While speaking with ComicBook.com, Ember Moon would provide her latest injury update.
“A lot of people don’t know this – they think I just have a very generic Achilles rupture, but I don’t. “What actually happened is that my Achilles tendon got split in half and then it also got torn off the bone. So I actually ruptured my Achilles in two places, and the surgeon thinks that I may have been wrestling on it for probably about two months already torn to some extent, and I just didn’t feel the pain because I have kind of a high pain tolerance.”
This shows that the injury atleast didn’t come from the needless comedy chase for the 24/7 Championship, but that was just the straw that broken the camels back. Add in COVID-19 shutting down her physical therapy for a time, and it’s been a hard road to recovery. Her surgeon has only found two similar injuries, and said that 20 to 30 months is the expected recovery time, with anything less than two years being a huge win.
She Might Never Wrestle Again
In her last injury update on WWE Backstage, she spoke on the possibility of her in-ring career being done, and she meant what she said. This is the definition of a career ending injury, and even if she comes back to the ring in a few years time, she’ll need to come in with a whole new style. We’ve seen this with people in the past, Seth Rollins being the most recent example. Following his knee injury, he wouldn’t be able to wrestle the same pace and style.
It will take a lot to kill the determination of Ember Moon, and we can only hope her career isn’t over. In the meantime, she’s begun streaming on Twitch, keeping her busy when she’s not rehabbing her injury and dodging a second surgery on her leg.
