The NXT Cruiserweight Champion, flanked by Legado Del Fantasma would finally lace up his boots to compete on 205 Live this week. He’d be matched up with the resident asskicker of the brand, Oney Lorcan. If Lorcan could defeat Santos Escobar, he’d be in line for a title shot, but he’s still banged up from going blow for blow with Timothy Thatcher. Could he fight through the pain and notch a huge win?
Santos Escobar Shows Why He’s The Champion
Lorcan came ready for a fight like always, but Escobar would set the pace. This one would start with some technical wrestling, with the injured right arm of Lorcan as a target. It would also reduce his striking ability, with him going for a chop with the arm and only hurting himself. Escobar would take Lorcan to the mat, and grab the arm in a hammerlock.
Lorcan would escape, but think twice about throwing the right hand, leading to a standoff. He’d need to rethink his approach for this match, as Escobar took him down the mat again and targetted the arm. Lorcan would fly into a quick rollup to try and get the pin, but he’d fail. Escobar would lock in a submission, starting with a single leg crab, before going for the injured arm. He’d get out, and with his one good arm, Lorcan would go for some strikes, but an arm trapped suplex would be next.
Oney Lorcan Got His Ass Kicked Again
Every attempt at offense would be ineffective at best for Lorcan, with the huge target on his body. Despite this, he’d rush Escobar on the top rope to try for a superplex, but end up with his arm going hard off the top of the corner. This was limb control 101, and Lorcan was getting failing marks. The official could have stopped this one, but Lorcan would never quit. A splash to the arm on the outside, followed by a deadly submission would try to make him tap however.
He’d get to the ropes to break the hold, and have one last rush. Huge chops for the left arm to the throat, a running uppercut, the running blockbuster, he was doing all the hits. It wouldn’t be enough, and an armbreaker into the Phantom Driver would end this one.
We have never seen Lorcan be manhandled this hard. He came in hurt against the champion, and while he never quit, this match was 90% Escobar. It was a show of dominance, and a sign of what will come to whoever who steps to the champ. Who can stop Santos Escobar? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
