Kenta along with Bullet Club unit mate, Jay White refused to congratulate their newest stablemate Evil during the early days after his IWGP Heavyweight Championship victory. The two have been tied at the hip since Kenta joined Bullet Club, and the cold shoulder to Evil could be a sign of their continued partnership.
Kenta’s unsuccessful IWGP Heavyweight and IWGP Intercontinental ‘Double Championship’ challenge at The New Beginning, likely isn’t the last time he will attempt to force his way into title contention.
Could Lil K have something else up his sleeve?
Will His Place In Bullet Club Complicate Things?
Kenta and Jay White are likely aligned in whatever happens within Bullet Club going forward. If the faction splits into two branches with one in Japan and the other in the United States, that could help prevent direct tension from forming until title opportunities begin to exclusively happen with Japan.
Kenta did not join Bullet Club to operate in an honorable fashion and earn his path to the top, his actions during Wrestle Kingdom 14 Day 2 proved that to be the case.
If an opportunity presents itself, Kenta will use it in his quest to take over New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW).
Does Kenta Have A Clear Path To The IWGP Heavyweight Championship?
Unless Kenta is prepared to go through Evil and especially Jay White, his path to the IWGP Heavyweight and IWGP Intercontinental Championships are likely blocked.
Luckily, G1 Climax 30 is taking place later in the year and it’s likely travel restrictions may lighten up by then. In that scenario, Kenta will have to face Jay White or even (and possibly both) during the tournament.
It may seem that Kenta played his hand at Wrestle Kingdom 14, but it shouldn’t be surprising to anyone if he finds his way back into the marquee before far too long.
