It takes some serious balls to face down someone like Keith Lee in person. While Karrion Kross has been trying to get a shot at the NXT Champion, he’s yet to come face to face with Lee. Cameron Grimes on the other hand? He’s got more balls than brains.
He’s gotten some big wins in recent months in NXT, and is a star on the rise. However, Keith Lee is another beast entirely. Could Cameron Grimes win the biggest match of his career, or will he be pounced through the walls of Full Sail University?
Cameron Grimes Is Playing A Long Term Game
Grimes would be his usual pest self, while Lee was fairly stoic and very pissed off. Lee would back him into a corner before they even locked up, and would flee the ring. All this to get under the skin of Lee, but it’s hard to throw the champ off.
Grimes would try for a single leg takedown, to very little success. Now he was trapped by Keith Lee, who would throw him aside. Grimes hit some forearms, and would be sent off the ropes and dropped with a shoulder tackle.
He’d try to rush in when he was back to his feet, but be dropped again. Lee would just throw Grimes from corner to corner, with Grimes flopping to the outside. Wanting to make an example, Lee would come to the outside to charge Grimes, but take a low dropkick. Being shoved into the ring-steps wouldn’t help his case, nor would a moonsault dropping him as we went to a commercial break.
Keith Lee Is Sending A Message
Coming back from the break, Lee would be right back in control. Grimes would be run through, but dodge the spirit bomb narrowly. He’d even manage to counter Big Bang Catastrophe into an inside cradle.
Even using the ropes for leverage wouldn’t stop lee, as Grimes was trying everything. A pounce would be stopped by an enziguri, and then Grimes would use Lee’s momentum for a standing spanish fly for a near fall.
Grimes would go for the Cave In, but Lee would catch him. A Grizzly Magnum would cause Grimes to crumple onto the mat, and despite some more strikes, Lee would take over again.
Some short arm clotheslines would punish Grimes for trying to stay in this, letting Grimes take himself up. Finally, he’d set up the Spirit Bomb, and this one would be through.
No Time To Bask In His Glory
Yet again, following the match Lee would be interrupted by Kross & Scarlett. We’d see someone else being choked out backstage, as we cut to an entire room of downed wrestlers. He wants Keith Lee, and the body count will rise until he gets this, but refuses to meet the champ face to face.
