G1 Climax Schedule Announced By NJPW

The greatest tournament in wrestling is set to begin in just over a month. Normally, the summer is home to the G1 Climax, but this is the first year it shall run during the fall. We don’t know who will be in the tournament yet, but we know the dates and locations of the nineteen events that will take place over just under a month.

The Full G1 Climax 30 Schedule

The tour starts with a double header in Osaka over September 18th & 19th in the EDION Arena, then goes to Hokkaido for another double header, before heading across the entire country. It finishes on October 18th, in the iconic Ryogoku Sumo Hall. Last year saw a few dates take place in the United States, but that won’t be possible this time around.

The Full Schedule is as followed:

Saturday, September 18 – Osaka – Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium (EDION Arena Osaka)

Sunday, September 19 – Osaka – Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium (EDION Arena Osaka)

Wednesday, September 23 – Hokkaido – Hokkai Kita Yell

Thursday, September 24 – Hokkaido – Hokkai Kita Yell

Sunday, September 27 – Hyogo – Kobe World Hall

Tuesday, September 29 – Tokyo – Korakuen Hall

Wednesday, September 30 – Tokyo – Korakuen Hall

Thursday, October 1 – Niigata – Aore Nagaoka

Monday, October 5 – Tagawa – Takamatsu City Gymnasium

Tuesday, October 6 – Hiroshima – Hiroshima Sun Plaza Hall

Wednesday, October 7 – Hiroshima – Hiroshima Sun Plaza Hall

Thursday, October 8 – Okayama – ZIP Arena Okayama

Saturday, October 1o – Osaka – Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium (EDION Arena Osaka)

Sunday, October 11 – Aichi – Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium (Dolphins Arena)

Tuesday, October 13 – Shizuoka – Hamamatsu Arena

Wednesday, October 14 – Kanagawa – Yokohama Budokan

Friday, October 16 – Tokyo – Ryogoku Sumo Hall

Saturday, October 17 – Tokyo – Ryogoku Sumo Hall

Sunday, October 18 – Tokyo – Ryogoku Sumo Hall

New Names Will Have To Step Up Into The Field

Generally the G1 Climax is a healthy mix of both native Japanese talents and outsiders like Jeff Cobb, Jon Moxley & Lance Archer. This year however, things will be different. Much like the New Japan Cup, we will be seeing a limited roster for this huge tournament. Names like Jay White, Will Ospreay & Juice Robinson might make it back to Japan by the start of the tournament, but if they can’t make it, we could see some more interesting picks.

Older names like Minoru Suzuki, Satoshi Kojima, and perhaps even Yuji Nagata are likely to make it into the tournament. We could even see some Junior Heavyweights like El Desperado enter the field like Ospreay & Shingo did last year. Most unlikely is someone like Gabriel Kidd or Yota Tsuji making their way into the tournament, as young lions will rarely get this big a chance.

We will likely see the full field announced at the stadium show later this month. Who do you want to see enter the G1 Climax 30? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
