This looks like a possible show stealer for WWE Smackdown solely based on their match’s finish at Payback.
It was one of the most creative finishes we’ve seen in a long time with Shayne Baszler locked Sasha Banks and Bayley into a double submission, and even using Banks’ arm to submit Bayley.
Nia Jax was just as entertaining when she swung Banks back and forth outside the ring, penduluming her off the barricade.
While it’s safe to say Baszler and Jax wouldn’t hesitate in accepting a rematch, this does bring up the question about the lack of rematch clauses in the WWE, and if this could be a way of them coming back.
Tarnished gold
The Golden Role Models were at the top of the women’s division just a couple of weeks ago when they held all of the gold.
Now, Bayley is the only champion between them and their friendship appears to be fracturing after months of teasing.
There’s no doubt that Bayley and Banks have the skills to win back the Women’s Tag Team Championship, but they’re doubt in each other and themselves could be too big to overcome.
Plus, the simple fact that Baszler and Jax should be unbeatable for the foreseeable future until their personal conflict destroys them can’t be ignored.
They could even grow to respect and like each other. Wouldn’t that be a fun sight for opposing teams in the future?
Bonds make the team
In many ways, they remind us of the Brother of Destruction (undertaker and Kane) and the Two Man Power Trip (Steve Austin and Triple), the latter also held the World Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships if we remember correctly.
As for Bayley and Banks, in the end, we don’t think Banks and Bayley will be able to overcome these two, as Baszler and Jax agree that punishing and pummeling their opponents are the spice of life.
Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax coexisted long enough to win the Women’s Tag Team Titles. Can they keep clicking and prevent Bayley & Sasha Banks from snatching them back?
This is a rough matchup for the Golden Role Models at the best of times, and they’re far removed from that.
Split happens
While it’s been fun watching Banks and Bayley, we think they’ll lose tonight and it should be a crushing affair.
Baszler and Jax should crush them in the opening minutes to demonstrate how far they’ve grown, and how far Banks and Bayley have fallen.
It could simply be a miscommunication between Banks and Bayley that leads to the loss and drives the wedge between them to the point their strained relationship fractures.
