While Main Event usually goes unnoticed by fans, some matches are too big to ignore. Two of the most beloved names on Monday Night RAW, Ricochet & Mustafa Ali, going head to head. This match has drawn both hype and questions of ‘Why is this on Main Event?’
Both men got big wins last week on Main Event, and now they’re going to prove who the king of Main Event is. Sadly there is no actual title on the line, but we can pretend to make it feel just a bit more exciting. Who will prove to be the best of the undercard who can’t make it to RAW?
A Battle Between Friends Goes South
This match starts with a show of respect, before Ricochet grabs a headlock to start the chain wrestling. Ali would hit some arm drags, and grab the waist before going back into chain wrestling, ending with Ricochet hitting an arm drag of his own before mouthing off to his friend. Ricochet would grab a headlock, again showing his grappling prowess in the early going.
Ali would force Ricochet into the corner after a waist grab, and hit a hard elbow. This would get hard hitting fast, with Ricochet showing his edge and this one wasn’t friendly anymore. Ricochet would be sent to the apron, get punched in the face and hit with a huge neckbreaker for a near fall.
Ali would apply a tight chinlock, Ricochet would fight out and take another big neckbreaker for a near fall. Just as Ricochet found his edge, so did Ali, getting very aggressive in this match. Another neckbreaker attempt would be countered into a backslide, Ali rolls through and gets punched in the face.
Ricochet Picks The Pace Up
Ricochet knew this match was slipping from him, he’d pick up the pace and throw some hard strikes at his opponent. Ali would fight out and try for the Satellite DDT, but Ricochet stopped it with his freakish power. He’d hit Ali with a northern lights suplex into a brainbuster, he might look like a cruiserweight but he’s got a power game too.
Ricochet would attempt a superplex, but Ali would fight out into a diving sunset flip into a hard sitout powerbomb. These men are pulling out all the stops, and Ali would go high for the 450, but Ricochet evaded. They’d rush into strikes, Ricochet slipping behind into a poison rana and would hit the Recoil for the win.
This match was hard hitting, physical and had an incredible pace. Friends make the best rivals, and these two brought out the best in each other. After the match, they’d fist bump again showing no hard feelings, they left it all in the ring. Ricochet is now the unofficial king of Main Event!
