As we’ve come to expect each week on WWE Smackdown, Bayley will make an appearance.
But the difference this time is Sasha Banks won’t be at her side, and that’s what’s going to make this interesting.
The WWE finally kicked off their Sasha Banks and Bayley rivalry, and it came from a direction we weren’t expecting.
While it was nice to get it started, the way Bayley attacked Banks was the surprise as we’ve been led to believe it’d be Banks becoming jealous of Bayley.
Sure, there were hints that this would happen and that Bayley treated Banks as cannon fodder, but that was expected to be part of the reason Banks would turn on her.
Unexpected but glorious
Bayley has been doing the best work of her career, and she’s so much fun to watch.
This is a heel turn that we can’t find fault with and we love it!
It seemingly came out of nowhere while being obvious in hindsight and would’ve gotten the fans had they been in attendance.
Now we get to cheer Banks as a face, so it’s hard to imagine a bad part to this.
But what’s really going to sell this will be when Bayley comes out tonight and explains how she views how Banks was the weak link, and how she was why they lost their championships.
In short, Bayley’s been the one that’s been jealous of Banks as she was “the Boss” and “the Blueprint.”
Both are awesome monikers and no matter what Bayley did she could never seem to outshine Banks.
So, it had to be Banks’ fault they lost.
Bayley will explain how she did all the heavy lifting against Asuka and Banks still managed to lose. She’ll point out it was Banks what lost their tag team championship.
In short, it’ll be a typical heel response delivered in Bayley’s style that’ll get us booing her from our living rooms.
There’ll be more
To think this will go off without a hitch is wishful thinking, and we can expect someone to come out to challenge Bayley.
We’re assuming they’re going to push the idea that Banks is injured and no one knows when she’ll come back, so if she’s not there, who will is a good question.
WWE Smackdown has a pretty thin face roster in the women’s division when it comes to wanting to defend Banks, so we’d expect it’d be someone with a previous history.
Or, at least, someone that really wants the Smackdown Women’s Championship.
In this case, it wouldn’t surprise us if it’s Naomi to put her over with the fans, or even Tamina or Nikki Cross.
Naomi feels like the safest bet here, but Banks coming out with a limp and surprising everyone isn’t unexpected and would be a typical WWE move.
