The September 12th episode of Finish Strong gave a brief recap of the New Japan of America (NJoA) finale of the Fighting Spirit Unleashed 2020 tour.
Also, host Chris Charlton discussed the Lion’s Break Crown tour that commences with next week’s New Japan Strong episode. Charlton announced the tour will focus on a tournament similar to the Young Lion’s Cup.
Instead of the round-robin format of the most recent Young Lion’s Cup, Lion’s Break Crown will be a single-elimination tournament featuring eight young wrestlers from around the United States. The tour is taking place while Jay White, Kenta, and Jeff Cobb will all be in Japan for G1 Climax 30.
ACH joined Charlton earlier in the show to speak about his goals within NJoA and NJPW after his tag team victory during New Japan Strong episode six.
ACH confirmed that he has plans to stay in NJPW for the long-term after signing with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), and having a falling out with the company after the company released a shirt of his likeness depicting blackface imagery.
Before leaving the company for WWE, ACH wrestled several tours a year with NJPW between 2016-2018. With New Japan Strong being established, it’s likely ACH will have even further commitments with the company during his second run with the company.
While didn’t mention his specific goals, he likely has sights on winning the prestigious IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship. He would add depth to a division that currently features champion Taiji Ishimori, Hiromu Takahashi, Ryu Lee, Master Wato, Sho, Yoh, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, El Desperado, Ryusuke Taguchi, Rocky Romero, and Bushi.
With other likely additions of Blake Christian, Danny Limelight, Adrian Quest, and The Reigel Twins — the Junior Heavyweight division could a wealth of depth when travel restrictions are lifted.
