G1 Climax 30 Night 14 saw former NEVER Openweight Champion and New Japan Cup USA 2020 winner and Bullet Club member Kenta face current KOPW (presumably King of Pro Wrestling) titleholder and CHAOS member Toru Yano.
Yano began his G1 Climax 30 campaign to a quick start but ran into a series of bad results after his opponents caught on to his tricks planned for the tournament. He was coming off a defeat to Suzuki-Gun member Zack Sabre Jr during G1 Climax 30 Night 12.
G1 Climax 30: Kenta v Yano
While Kenta, who hasn’t had the same form as he did during New Japan Cup USA 2020 came into the match on the heels of a defeat to Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) member Sanada.
Kenta needed a victory in the match to get off 4 points, and hopefully begin regaining the form he’ll need when he makes the V3 challenge against Jon Moxley during his second reign with the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship.
Yano came into the match with 6 points, yet has been a thorn in the side of all of his opponents besides Hirooki Goto who was able to defeat him in 18 seconds.
This match was full of antics and not much on the side of actual wrestling, Kenta was about to earn the fall by ring out at the 8 minutes and 56 seconds mark to move his point total up to 6.
Kenta finishes off his G1 Climax 30 campaign against another CHAOS member Yoshi-Hashi (October 14th) and IWGP Heavyweight and IWGP Intercontinental ‘Double Champion’ and LIJ leader Tetsuya Naito. If Kenta can defeat Naito it may set him up for an opportunity to challenge for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship at a later date.
Yano finishes up his tournament against Naito (October 14th) and fellow CHAOS member Yoshi-Hashi (October 17th).
