There was a welcome sight in the boxing world this week, as it was revealed that Savannah Marshall will get her WBO title fight against Hannah Rankin on the undercard to the Oleksandr Usyk and Derek Chisora PPV. The fight was set to take place this past weekend, but a positive coronavirus test by Marshall’s trainer meant that the fight was cancelled immediately.

However, she will not have to wait much longer to have he title fight as it will take place on the 31st October on one of the undercards for one of the biggest events of the year.

Boxing News: Marshall Delighted With Announcement

Speaking after the announcement was made regarding the rearrangement, Marshall revealed that it was a ‘dream’ that the fight has been quickly reorganised. The fight is for the vacant WBO title, and Marshall will enter the fight as the huge favourite to get the win.

She has enjoyed an excellent career to this point, and won the Commonwealth gold medal back in 2014. Marshall has demonstrated her skills in the ring time and time again, and she remains the only fighter to have beaten Claressa Shields. She is ranked as the second best women’s middleweight fighter, and will come into this title fight with a perfect record, boasting eights wins from eight fights. Six of these fights have been won by knockout, including her last win against Ashleigh Curry.

Boxing News: Huge Halloween Night Of Boxing

The main event on the card will be the fight between Derek Chisora and Oleksandr Usyk. The heavyweight bout will have a huge say in some of the fights that could be made next year, with Oleksandr Usyk already emerging as one of the best heavyweights. Usyk dominated the cruiserweight division before making the step up, with his last fight in that division coming against Tony Bellew in Manchester.

Since being stepped up to the heavyweight division, he has been able to continue his perfect record, and now boasts 17 wins from 17 fights. He is also ranked as the fifth best heavyweight in the world. Chisora will present a stern heavyweight test after proving his ability in the ring throughout his career by standing toe to toe with Dillian Whyte, Carlos Takam and Tyson Fury.
