Nick Gage Was Supposed To Make AEW Debut At All Out

At All Out, we saw another huge Battle Royal from AEW. The winner would go on to face the AEW World Champion, and that winner was Lance Archer. However, going into this match, no one knew who the 21st entrant would be, who drew the Joker card? It ended up being Matt Sydal, but that wasn’t the first choice. Deathmatch legend Nick Gage was going to make his AEW debut, as per LuchaBlog on Twitter.

    Who Is Nick Gage?

For those who don’t follow Game Changer Wrestling, the main home of Gage, he’s one of the toughest wrestlers around. He made his debut back in 1998, and has yet to make an impact in a major promotion. A big reason for this is that in 2011, he was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to second degree bank robbery. He’s since changed his ways, and has become an incredibly popular wrestler once again.

Gage is cut from the same cloth as someone like Eddie Kingston. He’s honest, wears his heart on his sleeve, fans love him, and he’ll kick your ass if you overlook him in the ring. His 722 day reign as GCW Champion helped put the company on the map, as he faced men like Homicide, Sabu, former WCW Champion David Arquette, Penta El Zero M, Joey Janela and more.

Why Did His AEW Debut Get Halted?

Unfortunately for Gage, right before he potentially made his big break in wrestling, on PPV for a major promotion, an injury would stop things in their tracks. Around late July, Gage would get hurt during a match, and has not gotten into the ring since. He’s set to return to the ring when healthy, but this injury might have been all that stopped him from being a fixture on AEW TV.

Gage is a very well loved man in wrestling, and a lot of the AEW locker room can vouch for him. He doesn’t seem like the type to fit in on TV, but neither did Eddie Kingston, who is going to main event Full Gear early next month. Gage will get his time in the spotlight, he’s destined for that. For now, we wish him a speedy recovery, so he can get back to what he does best.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
