It has been many months since fans got to see Chelsea Green in action. After a brief stint in NXT as the star of Robert Stone Brand, she’d fire him and move onto ‘better things’ after getting a tag team win alongside then NXT Women’s Champion, Charlotte Flair. By better things, she meant being off TV for month after month, with no clear direction in sight after leaving NXT.
She wasn’t part of Retribution, wasn’t the Smackdown mystery woman, but last night on Friday Night Smackdown, Green was back. It was a Fatal Four Way match to determine who gets to join the Smackdown Women’s Team at Survivor Series, and Green was going to win.
Chelsea Green Broke Her Left Wrist During This Match
Despite the plan being that Green would win in her debut match and move onto Survivor Series, things can never be that easy. Shortly after the match began, Green would fall to injury. This left Liv Morgan, Natalya and Tamina in the match, and a new winner had to be chosen on the fly. Liv Morgan would be given the win, being the only other up and coming star in the match, and fans being tired of Natalya and have never truly cared about Tamina.
Taking to Twitter following the match, Green would say the following about the injury. “Just like the rest of my career, I couldn’t have an easy debut! LOL, that just wouldn’t be fit for my wild journey. I’m headed into surgery now. I am beyond devastated, but so excited to be a part of WWE Smackdown when I get back.”
Second Time For This Injury
Perhaps the worst part of this injury is that it’s the same one as last year, having taken her out of action in NXT for quite some time. She’d get injured around March, and return to the ring around the end of June, slowly working her way back into the mix. This gives fans a timeline to work with for this injury, and does leave a Royal Rumble return as a slight possibility.
We here at The Overtimer wish Chelsea Green a safe and speedy recovery. Would you have been excited to see Green win her debut and join Team Smackdown at Survivor Series? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
