Episodes #111 and #112 of MLW Fusion wrapped up the opening rounds of the 2020 MLW Opera Cup. Let’s look at the semi-final fixtures and get in some predictions.
Opera Cup 2020 Semi-Finals Fixtures
Semi-Final: Tom Lawlor vs. ACH
Semi-Final: Richard Holliday vs. Low Ki
From the semi-final picture we see that Tom Lawlor, ACH, and Richard Holliday advanced as expected. The match that was hard to call was the rematch of the 2019 Opera Cup opening round between Low Ki and Davey Boy Smith Jr.
Low Ki avenged his loss from last year and will now face off against Richard Holliday.
MLW Opera Cup Semi-Finals Predictions
With the semi-finals established, things are easier to call. All of the matches were pretty strong showings in the openers. The best from their respective sides were Lawler vs. Romero and Low Ki vs. Davey Boy Smith Jr.
It’ll be interesting to see where Smith Jr goes from here but the semi-finals look extremely impressive. I’d want to see each of these guys’ progress if they won the Cup.
The Lawlor-ACH semi-final is murky. There might be plans for ACH since Lawlor is locked in with the Von Erichs feud. While I’d love to see Lawlor advance, I’m giving this to ACH.
My pick for Holliday vs. Low Ki is Holliday. I also think he’ll do it against an alternate since there’s still the thing between King Mo and Low Ki. Hell, that alternate could win the semi-final and the Cup!
This is an open match but from the fixtures, I’m giving it to Holliday. I have a strong feeling that something will happen in that match.
Opera Cup 2020 Finals: ACH vs. Richard Holliday
Finals Prediction
Again, this is just going off static fixtures but I see ACH taking the Cup. I’m sure how long he’ll be around but the potential for an ACH vs. Fatu showdown for the World title is interesting.
Fatu’s in need of another opponent for his World Heavyweight title. Actually, he should have an ongoing singles’ program. That said, unless he loses the belt somewhere between two weeks from now, it’ll be a while before we see a new champ.
My prediction for the MLW Opera Cup winner is ACH.
