The WWE’s is repeating their trend of having future opponents team up as Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair join forces again, and WWE Smackdown Preview is curious how long this will last.
It’s impossible to have a storyline for a product that runs year round without some repetitiveness, but the WWE looks like they’re trying to break a record.
By our count, and we could be wrong, this is the fourth time at least that a champion and future challenger have been teamed together since Bayley and Banks were a tag team.
This is just the top two brands and we’re sure we missed a couple of other instances somewhere over the last couple of months.
It doesn’t mean it doesn’t work or is perceived as working, otherwise it would never be used more than once.
But considering the list includes Banks-Bayley, Drew McIntyre-Keith Lee, Asuka-Charlotte Flair, and now Banks-Belair, it’s hard to get amped up for this match due to the frequency.
Last week this match felt stilted and off, like they popped the clutch constantly, as Bayley and Belair sought to one up each other.
It didn’t seem to work for us, but WWE Smackdown Preview has hope that tonight’s will be what we expected last week. There’s simply too much talent in the ring to expect otherwise.
One thing for sure is we don’t expect a clean win as Bayley or Carmella will get the win over their feuding counterpart.
Big E vs. King Corbin (w/The Knights of the Lone Wolf)
After finally winning the Intercontinental Championship last week, making it his second time, Big E won’t waste any time in facing off with a tough competitor when he faces King Corbin.
We expect this feud to last to the Royal Rumble and beyond, and this should be a great one. We’re in the minority when it comes to liking Corbin, and we love that he finally has actual lackeys.
He’s been listless for months but it feels like he finally found his spot with this knights at his side. A king needs a court, after all.
With his size and agility, we expect a great match between he and Big E in this non-title match.
While we’d like to see Big to win to really infuriate Corbin and take it to the next level, we think Corbin will pull off the win with some help from his Knights and he’ll get a title shot at the Royal Rumble.
This has the chance to be a beautiful rivalry going forward.
While both matches look great, we’re looking forward to what else is on tap for tonight. Who do you think will win these matches and what else do you think will happen?
