Hello and welcome to WWE Smackdown Live Results!
I’m your host, CP Bialois, and thank you for joining us for out first episode of 2021. With any luck, this episode will be as good or better than last weeks.
We have a couple of fun matches to look forward to, as well as the rumored return of Seth Rollins. Will he still be the Messiah or will being a father turn him back to a face?
WWE Smackdown Live Results are going to grab some snacks and settle in for the answer to this and more questions at the 8 p.m. EST showtime.
Segment 1
Reigns came out to celebrate the night as Jey Uso’s, but Owens came out and said Reigns should be embarrassed that he’s there because it means Reigns and his family failed.
Owens added that he’ll face Jey tonight and when he’s done, Reigns’ family will have no reason to celebrate.
We expect Reigns or another family member (Jimmy maybe?) to interfere if this match happens.
Segment 2
Big E vs. King Corbin (w/The Knights of the Lone Wolf)
What should’ve been a good match was quick as Big E Hit a Big Ending, but Sami Zayn attacked him to get Corbin disqualified.
The knights attacked Big E, too, but Apollo Crews ran out and cleared the ring. A potential tag match upcoming?
Segment 3
Big E and Apollo Crews vs. Sami Zayn and King Corbin
Of course, this was sanctioned during the commercial break and was underway by the time we returned. Old tired tricks are back again.
Zayn tagged himself in a few too many times and tried ordering the Knights around, so Corbin left him to get powerbombed by Crews for the pin.
Segment 4
Riott Squad (Live Morgan and Ruby Riott) vs. Tamina and Natalya (w/Billie Kay)
Billie Kay went back and forth for each team, and neither seemed to want her.
Morgan countered a Samoan Drop by rolling up Tamina for the win.
This match was just… rough.
Segment 5
Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair vs. Bayley and Carmella (w/Reginald)
This started fast as Belair strutted her stuff and Banks hit a crossbody for a near pin on Bayley as we headed to commercial.
Segment 6
An exciting match ended when Carmella slammed Banks and pinned her, but the real story is how Reginald pulled Carmella out of the ring while in a Bank Statement with no DQ.
Guess there are no ruels when it comes to storylines in the WWE?
Segment 7
Sonya Deville made her return backstage. Welcome back! Hope she gets the push she deserves.
The Street Profits had their New Year Smoktacular interrupted by Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler, who did their best to injure Ford’s left leg with a steel chair.
Segment 8
Daniel Bryan and Otis (w/Chad Gable) vs. Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura
This started out with Bryan taking over early, but Cesaro hit him with an uppercut on the floor and Otis charged Cesaro as we headed to commercial.
Segment 9
This was an exciting back and forth match that Bryan won by slapping the Yes Lock on Nakamura.
Segment 10
Kevin Owens vs. Jey Uso
This started as a brawl and didn’t change much as Owens worked on Jey’s left leg, all the time telling him it’s Reigns’ fault.
Owens threw Jey over the announce table as we headed to commercial.
Segment 11
Owens won after hitting a stunner, and then brutalized a handcuffed Jey while challenging Reigns to come out.
Reigns attacked Owens from behind, and the two of them then beat Owens with chairs and against the LED screens before Reigns closed the show by throwing Owens off a 20 foot platform and through a table.
This was pretty much what we expected, and we’re waiting for the moment Owens will be able to fight off both of them. Guess that’ll be a once and done moment.
