Once again fans are engaged by what the blue brand is offering, and that promises to be no different this evening. A number of segments that will take place on SmackDown tonight have already been announced, but what could potentially happen on tonight’s show?
WWE SmackDown News: Contract Signing
One of the most intriguing sub-plots that will be taking place on SmackDown this week is the contract signing for the upcoming Universal Championship match between Roman Reigns and Adam Pearce. The WWE throw in a curveball by announcing that Pearce would be the man taking on Reigns for the title at the Royal Rumble, as the WWE official won a gauntlet match with the help of Jey Uso.
There is certainly a reason why Reigns wanted to face off against the official, and we could learn more surrounding his reasons for that this evening. Pearce will also be looking to stand up to the Head of the Table, as he tries to upset the odds and become the new Universal Champion.
WWE SmackDown News: Rey Mysterio Takes On Baron Corbin
Baron Corbin seems to have a vendetta against the Mysterio family, and he will be looking to inflict more pain on the family this week on SmackDown, as he goes one-on-one with Rey. Over the last couple of weeks, Corbin has attacked numerous members of the Mysterio family, with his most recent attack coming against Dominik and Rey last week on SmackDown.
Rey will be looking to gain a layer of revenge this evening as they go up against each other, but it is massively likely that Corbin has a plan of his own for the match. It does seem that this is a rivalry that could continue to run until the Royal Rumble, with Dominik finally getting his singles match against King Corbin. Dominik is in need of a big singles win on a PPV and that could come against the king at the end of the month.
WWE SmackDown News: Big E And Apollo Crews Continue Feud
The Intercontinental Championship picture has become hugely entertaining over the last couple of weeks, with Big E and Apollo Crews squaring off in a memorable match last week. It is unlikely that this rivalry is over just yet, and that could lead to a heel turn by Crews to set up another match between the stars at the Royal Rumble. It would certainly be interesting to see a heel Crews have a run in WWE, as the only doubts that there have ever been about the star centres around his will-to-win.
