It has been announced that Megan Anderson is no longer with the UFC. The women’s featherweight contender last fought at UFC 259 this past weekend, as she was beaten by Amanda Nunes in the first round of their contest. According to the reports, the fight against Nunes was the last fight on her deal, and the decision was made to not renew the contract.

Something that Anderson revealed was down to the UFC scrapping the weight class. However, those comments were played down by the company, as they stated that the women’s featherweight division remains an integral part.

UFC News: Anderson Been With UFC Since 2018

Anderson had been with the UFC for just under three years, as she came up against Holly Holm in her first fight. Ahead of her UFC bow she had competed at Invicta and Nitro, and has a record of 8-2. She was beaten in her first UFC appearance by the MMA great by unanimous decision, but she would fight again before the end of the year. That fight came against Cat Zingano, as she picked up a first win the UFC by TKO at UFC 232.

After that victory she was handed a fight against Felicia Spencer, as the two women met at UFC Fight Night in May 2019. However, it would turn out to be a disappointing night for Anderson, as she suffered a first round defeat in New York.

    UFC News: Most Recent Fights

Her best form in the UFC came in the run up to her first title opportunity, as she recorded wins against Zarah Fairn Dos Santos and Norma Dumont Viana. She ended both of those fights in comprehensive fashion, as she beat Dos Santos by submission in the first round, before beating Viana by KO in the first round of their meeting in February last year.

Her last fight with the company came last weekend, which was also her first world title opportunity. It would end in disappointment, as Amanda Nunes submitted Anderson in the opening round of the contest in Las Vegas. Still, there would be no embarrassment losing to Nunes, as she is one of the very best female fighters in UFC history. No official announcement has yet been made regarding what Anderson will do next.
