Meghan Markle has gotten herself into more bother, but not for the reasons that you may have expected.
British Royal Family News: Horror! Did Meghan Markle PLAGIARISE Her New Book?
Meghan and Prince Harry have continuously been making headlines ever since they dropped their bombshell interview on CBS. However, Megan has been accused of something else: plagiarism. She recently released her children’s book entitled, ‘The Bench’. On the front cover of the book, we can see a father and son holding each other as they lie on a bench.
Their eyes are closed as they contemplate the meaning of life. It was designed to show Meghan and Harry’s time in bringing up Archie. Nevertheless, critics have accused Meghan of copying another book written by Corrinne Averiss. Her book ‘The Boy on the Bench’ not only has a similar title, but the front cover also reveals a father and son sitting next to each other on a park bench.
Corrinne, though, has reassured fans that Meghan has not been plagiarising. During a post to her fans on Twitter, Corrinne said: “Reading the description and published excerpt of the Duchess’s new book, this is not the same story or the same theme as The Boy on the Bench. I don’t see any similarities.”
So if it was not a case of plagiarism, where did Meghan get her idea from? It seems this project was long in the pipeline. Megan was very open about how she wanted to become independent from the Royal family. Those words have been ringing true, as Meghan and Harry are on course to become billionaires.
But this venture was much more organic. In a statement given at the time of the book’s release, she said: “The Bench started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father’s Day, the month after Archie was born. That poem became this story…I worked closely to depict this special bond through an inclusive lens.”
With Meghan expecting another baby, there is the possibility that another book could be on the cards. In addition, her CBS interview has given her a lifetime of material for further books down the line. It will be fascinating to see what Megan comes up with next.
