When you get released from WWE, it’s as good a time as any to reinvent yourself. This is going to be the case with Ruby Riott as she starts a new stage of her career. Many assumed she would return to her old ring name of Heidi Lovelace, but she has been given a once in a lifetime chance to do something much more special.
Ruby Riot Is Now Ruby Soho
Going forward, Ruby Riott is going to be using the name Ruby Soho. This comes from a song by Punk Rock legends Rancid, off their 1995 album … And Out Come The Wolves. However, she didn’t decide this on her own. It was suggested by Lars Frederickson of Rancid himself, as he is also a huge fan of professional wrestling.
During an appearance on the Wrestling Perspective Podcast, which is co-hosted by Frederiksen, Ruby would get the blessing to use Ruby Soho as her ring name, and even use the song as her entrance music. This comes after she took Ruby from that song for the first half of her ring name in WWE.
When Frederiksen heard Ruby was looking for a new name, and offered her the chance to use Ruby Soho? Her response was: “Stop! You can’t say that to me and have me not lose my mind right now!” Frederiksen then hopped into a group chat, and cleared everything up to get things in order.
Will Ruby Soho Be In All Elite Wrestling?
Now with a new name and an incredible theme song, Ruby simply needs a new home. Most fans can agree she would be a beyond perfect fit for All Elite Wrestling, who has been able to build up a solid roster, but is lacking in veterans like Ruby.
She would be able to use the song ‘Ruby Soho’ there with everything cleared, as AEW has been using licensed music for Jungle Boy & Orange Cassidy as of late. Her 90 day non-compete clause with WWE ends just ahead of All Out, where there’s a Women’s Casino Battle Royale in need of a wildcard.
Fans are already expecting Tommy End and perhaps even Braun Strowman for this event, so Ruby would just add to the excitement. Would you want to see Ruby Soho in AEW? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
