In the last few days, Impact Wrestling took a big step in securing one of their biggest pieces of their company for two more years when Moose resigned through 2023.
As reported by fightful.com, Impact found a way to keep one of their biggest talents in the company despite reports of the WWE being interested.
It’s not surprising if the WWE was interested as they’ve reportedly been looking to go back to the days of giants in the ring and Moose fits the bill perfectly.
There were even reports that the WWE was going to have him appear on the main roster rather than spend time in NXT.
This is similar to the rumors about Karrion Kross signing with them, and since he went to NXT we can only assume the rumors were just that or he thought it was better to start there.
We can assume the same would’ve been true about Moose, but it’s only our assumption with not basis in fact aside from some reports.
And since the WWE never had a chance to get into talks with Moose as a free agent as Impact resigned him before he hit the open market, we can only speculate.
One thing we’re sure of is he would’ve added a tremendous presence to their in ring action.
Big role to play
Going as far back as May when Moose’s contract situation came up when he said he’d like to win the Impact World Championship before his contract ended, it’s been an interesting run.
He even denied reports from Dave Meltzer that said he resigned, saying to wait to hear the news from him.
Now that that’s all done, it looks like he’s going to figure into Impact Wrestling’s plans in a big way, as he recently challenged Kenny Omega for the Impact World Championship and will face Chris Sabin at Slammiversary.
There is a possibility we may see him face more AEW talent if he has his way, as he recently stated his hope for there to be more talent sharing between Impact Wrestling and AEW.
From fightful.com:
“Right now, it seems like it’s going well. It’s a good thing, two major companies working with each other. My personal opinion, I wish there was more…it just seems like AEW is just using one talent and IMPACT is using one talent. I wish there was more talent exchange and storylines with multiple talents. At the end of the day, I don’t know where this thing is going and I don’t think anybody but the two owners know where this is going. It’s possible that it’s something we see down the road, but we haven’t gotten there yet. We’ll see. So far, so good. I got to wrestle at Daily’s Place, which was a great atmosphere. I can’t wait to see the outcome of this relationship. I’m sure it’ll be great, everyone just has to have the patience to see where it’s going to go.”
We have to admit we’d love to see more crossovers, but maybe it hasn’t happened due to contract or availability.
But seeing Moose face off with Wardlow, the Murder Hawk, or even Paul Wight would be an awesome experience.
