WWE Queen of the Ring Expected to be Held in Saudi Arabia

The WWE has been in the headlines a lot the last week, and one of those were reports that they’re holding a Queen of the Ring tournament this year.

There have been plenty of rumors about it making the rounds on social media, and it looks like we know where the final round is going to be, if not when.

Andrew Zarian confirmed the news on the Mat Men podcast, but he also gave us some more news on it.

According to him, it looks like the tournament will start on Smackdown on October 8 and October 11’s Raw.

    A cool concept

While it can be argued this has been a long time in coming, it’s going to be nice to see the Women’s division get some much deserved attention after plans for an Evolution 2 pay-per-view didn’t happen in 2020.

While it looks like this will follow the system the WWE uses for its King of the Ring, it’s also been reported that the WWE is planning on holding the finals of the tournament in Saudi Arabia.

There are plenty of reasons for this, and we like to think of it as a great way for the WWE women’s division to show what they can do on a large stage, but for most headlines are the top reason.

And the thought it’s an attempt to help the negative PR a Saudi show many bring.

There have been reports that the first women’s match was supposed to be at Super Showdown 2019 with Alexa Bliss and Natalya, but the Saudi government allegedly canceled the match with them in the country.

    Making history

Since then, the WWE has held the first women’s match there for 2019’s Crown Jewel where Natalya defeated Lacey Evans.

They were forced to wear tee shirts and full body suits, but it was an important step forward.

It’d be nice to see more of these events in the United States.

I’ve said many times the women deserve their own brand and having their own pay-per-views to the list. They deserve more than just an occasional crumb thrown their way.

As for who’s taking part, there isn’t any news on which Superstars are taking part, but we think it’s safe to say it’ll be the usual one like Charlotte Flair, Asuka, Rhea Ripley, Sasha Banks, and others either on the roster or will be by then.

Who do you think will take part and who should win the Queen of the Ring? Let us know in the comments below.
