When it comes to legends in professional wrestling, it’s hard to deny that Kurt Angle was one of the best to ever lace up a pair of boots. An olympic gold medalist turned professional wrestling world champion, Angle brought a near unmatched intensity to the ring. However at this point of his life, Angle is done in the ring, and even turned down an offer from AEW tr\o wrestle for them.
Baron Corbin Retired Kurt Angle At Wrestlemania 35, AEW Offered Him Another Match
Since 2019, Kurt Angle has retired from professional wrestling. He had a last run in WWE, including getting to perform at Wrestlemania after being inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame. Many fans didn’t agree with the choice to have Baron Corbin be the one to end his career, and this is why people hope he wrestles just one more match.
This almost came to fruition with AEW offering Angle a deal to come in for at least one match. The report comes from Fightful Select, which indicated that AEW offered him a run following his retirement. While Angle was flattered about getting the offer, he turned it down due to his body not being in good enough shape to give a strong enough performance.
AEW Generally Treats Legends Very Well
While you can’t fault Angle for turning down the match, with his logic being sound, AEW would have been the best place for him to do this. They have a fantastic track record with working alongside legends, getting names like Diamond Dallas Page & Sting into the ring again to great success. Konnan, Tully Blanchard, Arn Anderson, Chavo Guerrero and more have gotten roles as managers, and they’ve overall just proven to be excellent for aged talent.
It’s unclear what Angle would have done in AEW, but it could have been more interesting than his bland final match with Corbin at Wrestlemania 35. Angle will likely remain retired from the ring, but we can’t rule out him showing up at shows for either WWE or AEW in the future. If Angle was to decide to have one last match, who would he face?
