Colby Covington has shared not only his prediction for the upcoming Paul v Woodley boxing match, but revealed some damning information about how Jake Paul likes to train.
Speaking with James Lynch, Covington took aim at Jake Paul, brutally dismissing the YouTuber’s claims to boxing legitimacy:
Covington: “disney star” Paul refused MMA training partners
“He doesn’t actually want guys that are going to push him in the gym and make him better, because, like we’ve said before, he’s not a real fighter.
He’s a little Disney star.” This came as part of a tirade on Paul’s training habits, where Covington had offered the help of pros from his gym, only to see them turned away for failing to indulge Jake Paul’s ego.
“I’ve had some guys at my gym, Colby Covington Inc. and MMA Masters, that have went to train with Jake Paul in Miami.
They’ve all kind of said the same information, that they went there, they exposed him, they made him look bad.
Of course, they turned the cameras off and they’re not taking pictures that day and they never invite these guys back because Jake ‘The Snake’ Paul only wants kids that he can beat up and knock out and boost his ego and his confidence.”
Jake and his brother Logan Paul’s entry into the boxing world has been controversial, to say the least. Jake Paul has adopted a villainous, brash persona not unlike Colby or Conor McGregor, choosing to fight wrestlers like Ben Askren and basketballers rather than professional boxers.
Logan Paul, on the other hand, fought Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition match. Floyd is now training Tyron Woodley for the Paul fight, with many predicting that Woodley will present Jake Paul’s toughest opponent yet.
Colby Covington, whose most recent fight in the UFC was a stoppage win over Woodley, shared his prediction for Paul vs Woodley. “I think Woodley could do it. I think he could land a knockout punch and get it done.”
Given his comments about Paul’s training habits, this may be more of a statement on Jake Paul’s lack of boxing ability than a compliment to Tyron Woodley. Perhaps when it comes to Colby Covington, that’s as close to a compliment as you can get.
Colby Covington is set to take on reigning welterweight champion Kamaru Usman later this year in a title rematch.
Who do you think will win the Woodley v Paul fight? Does Colby have it right, and Tyron will take a knockout win? Let us know in the comments.
