Right now in Ring of Honor, we’re on the path to a two night event with Glory By Honor. There are some major matches planned for both nights, with new ROH World Champion Bandido defending the gold against Flip Gordon on Night One, and a major cage match on Night Two. Inside the cage will be allies turned bitter rivals, Matt Taven & Vincent.
With a world title shot on the line, and a blood feud between these two men, it will be match to remember. However, Taven is already looking beyond that match to the future of Ring of Honor, which he hopes will include two important names from it’s past in CM Punk & Daniel Bryan.
Matt Taven Wants CM Punk & Bryan Danielson To Come Back To ROH
Right now, Daniel Bryan & CM Punk are the talk of the wrestling world, with both rumored to have signed contracts with All Elite Wrestling. However, the best part of them choosing AEW, is that it really keeps everything incredibly open for both men. AEW has been good with working with other companies, and while ROH isn’t on the list yet, it very well could be in due time. This is the hope of Matt Taven, who hopes to see Punk & Bryan return.
While speaking on Inside the Ropes, Taven would say the following. “With these Punk and Bryan Danielson things there would be no bigger treat I think as a fan to see one of those guys return home. It would really kind of change the landscape of things. But at the same time I think it would be for those guys personally, I know how I would feel personally of wanting to give back to a place that did so much for me and who knows maybe they wouldn’t feel that way but I think it would be just a cool moment and probably really cool for them to come back home.”
An Instant Boost To ROH Would Follow
It’s impossible to deny how big Punk & Bryan returning to ROH would be. Alongside others like Samoa Joe & Nigel McGuniness, they were some of the biggest stars in the companies history, who really helped build the companies legacy. There are also some great matches there for both men, with one that all fans want to see being Danielson vs. current ROH Pure Champion, Jonathan Gresham.
Either man could walk into the company and immediately put them back on the map in the eyes of many fans. ROH has really turned their image around in the past 12 months, but lacks that major star that brings eyes to the product.
