It’s been an interesting few weeks as SummerSlam has been promised to be as big or bigger than WrestleMania, and WWE Raw Preview is set to see where things fall in Raw’s Go Home episode.
To help set the stage, the WWE set up a couple of interesting matches as well as the final face to face between Bobbly Lashley and Bill Goldberg.
Speaking of the WWE Championship, let’s get to tonight’s breakdown.
One more time
Over the last few weeks, the build up between Lashley and Goldberg has been mostly verbal aside from Goldberg spearing MVP and ratcheting up Lashley’s fury.
We expect some more of the verbal sparing tonight with MVP taking another shot from Goldberg after he makes another comment or two about Goldberg’s son.
Security will probably pour out and take some abuse from both Goldberg and Lashley as they’ll toss them aside to set the stage for a world shattering match at SummerSlam.
Orton vs. Omos
After last week’s match against AJ Styles, Randy Orton threw the future of R-K-Bro in doubt when he nailed Riddle with an RKO.
And now tonight we could get some more answers as Orton faces Omos for the first time.
There’s little doubt in our minds Riddle will be at ringside and R-K-Bro will face Styles and Omos at SummerSlam as this is typical buildup for a tag team match.
Plus, there’s tons of rumors that last week’s RKO was nothing more than Orton getting it out of his system and Riddle will probably forgive him pretty easily
Handicap Match – Drew McIntyre vs. Veer and Shanky
This has potential to be a fun match as there’s a pretty cool stipulation involved where if McIntyre wins, then Shanky and Veer are banned from ringside for his SummerSlam match against Jinder Mahal.
If Veer and Shanky win, then McIntyre’s sword, Angela, will be banned from ringside.
Normally, we’d pick McIntyre to win since he’s undefeated or suffered only one loss in handicap matches.
But with the stipulation in place, this could be a loss for him to ban his sword from ringside.
Of course, we could point out it’s not that hard to ban an inanimate object from ringside, but given WWE’s storyline woes have remained fully intact, it’s not a surprise.
It’s hard for us to see McIntyre losing this match, especially since he defeated them last time by disqualification, and a match without interference between him and Mahal would be far better.
