Sarah Ferguson has praised Queen Elizabeth II as being someone that she can look up towards.
Sarah Ferguson Hails Queen Elizabeth II-‘There Is No Greater Mentor’
The Queen, for her part, has had to deal with a lot of struggle of late. The passing of her husband Prince Philip threw the Royal duties fully onto her. Not only that, the departure of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from the Royal family threw further strain on the Queen.
After all, they did not go quietly as a lot of disturbing revelations were made in their Oprah Winfrey interview. But through it all, the Queen has managed to stay strong, much to the admiration of Sarah. In an interview on the ‘Tea With Twiggy’ podcast, Sarah said: “[She has been my] greatest mentor.
“[The person who believes in me. I think to myself that, honestly, my mother-in-law has been more of a mother to me than my mother. [She’s] never faltered.” Sarah’s words holds true, given the longevity in which the Queen has been in charge. She is on course to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee, which would mark her 70th year as a monarch.
Although she has faced a lot of criticism during this time, notably whether the monarchy is needed in our time, she has stood strong in the face of it. Sarah added: “I absolutely admire the incredible way Her Majesty is so modern. And how flexible, and how understanding, and how forgiving and how generous. And kind.
“I absolutely think there is no greater mentor.” The primary reason why Sarah has praised the Queen is that the latter became a maternal figure to her, following the death of Sarah’s mother. Her mother had tragically died in a car crash in 1998, which left a huge void in her life.
Whilst she did manage to fill it, in part due to her marriage with Prince Andrew, the Queen was vital in being there for Sarah. Sarah may not be the most-liked member of the Royal family, but at least she knows she can count on the support of the Queen. And as long as that makes her feel fulfilled, then who are we to say otherwise.
