We’ve already seen Odyssey Jones push forward to the finals of the NXT Breakout Tournament, and tonight we will find out who his opponent is. The upstart Carmello Hayes will take on the towering Duke Hudson. Hudson is going to be hard to take down, but Hayes has taken some of NXT’s best to their limits; and that’s not easy to do with the likes of Adam Cole. Hayes also took down a bigger man in the first round with Josh Briggs, while Hudson took out Ikeman Jiro.
Duke Hudson Wants To Keep The Winds Of Change Blowing
They’d lock up in the middle of the ring, with Hayes being shoved into the corner. He’d slip out and get a rear waistlock on Hudson before being thrown off with ease. Hayes would keep the movement coming, bobbing and weaving as Hudson was starting to lose track.
He would succeed in finally dropping Hudson with a big springboard lariat. Things were looking dire, but Hudson wouldn’t let this one get out of control however. He opted to chuck Hayes over the top rope as we went to a commercial break. Hayes would hit a big step up enziguri as we got back to action.
Carmelo Hayes Is NXT’s Resident Giant Killer
This would briefly break the control of Hudson again before being rammed into the corner with a lariat and thrown with a big overhead belly to belly suplex. Hayes would manage to get Hudson to the outside, and hit an axe kick through the ropes. Hudson was rocked, and Hayes would follow up with a big slingshot DDT onto the apron.
Back in the ring, a swinging facebuster would get a two count for Hayes, before he went up top. Hudson tried to pull him down but Hayes rolled him up into a small package for a two count. A codebreaker and diving leg drop would finally keep Hudson down for the three count.
After the match, Samatha Irvin would interview Hayes, and ask him how he plans to break down Jones. He’s made it this far overcoming the odds, and Jones is going to be no different. Talent makes no difference, and Hayes claims to be the final boss of this tournament, a claim which Jones came out to rebuke.
