In recent weeks, Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne have been looking to prove they are the future of the NXT Women’s division. Tonight, they have a chance to really shine as they take on an established tag team of Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter. Catanzaro & Carter are hoping to get a piece of the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions, Zoey Stark & Io Shirai, and a win tonight could push them closer to a shot.
Kayden Carter & Kacy Catanzaro Show They’re Championship Calibre Athletes
After a bright and fun entrance from Carter & Catanzaro, the mood would change to something much more sinister from Jayne & Dolin. Dolin & Carter would start, with Carter doing a takedown before going for a roll up for a two count. Carter would tag in Catanzaro before sending Dolin outside. They’d teasing double dives, before taunting in the ring.
Dolin would get the advantage in the ring with a forearm to the back of Catanzaro, before a cannonball from Jayne. Catanzaro would be isolated on the wrong side of the ring, with Jaybe & Dollin bullying her using quick tags. A backbreaker into a lariat would get a two count, but some quick thinking from Catanzaro got her a tag to Carter.
Carter would fire up and get a two for one special with a dropkick into a splash in the corner, before a running big boot to Dolin got a two count. Dolin would come back with a strike of her own, before tagging in Jayne for a pump kick. Catanzaro had to break the fall up, before hitting a Neckbreaker/450 Splash combo for the win. After the match they’d demand a title shot, and their performance certainly proved they could be the next champions.
Raquel Gonzalez Gets A Prospective Challenger
Following this match, we’d see an interview with Raquel Gonzalez. She’d prove that she was able to win without Dakota Kai at NXT Takeover 36 when she would win without help, and against Kai herself. Kai was a tough challenge, but something tougher might be coming next.
Frankie Monet would interrupt and claim her shot at the NXT Women’s Championship, and could truly be the hardest challenge yet. This is a world travelled champion, and has yet to get her signature win in NXT. Could Monet be the one to drop Gonzalez? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
