It’s just about time for one of the biggest tournaments we will see all year. The G1 Climax starts in just two weeks, and while we know the dates for the shows – we didn’t know who was in. Jay White is assumed to be out, Will Ospreay is in America claiming to be the Real World Champion after being stripped of the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, and both David Finlay & Juice Robinson are also in America. Who will fill the field for the most grueling tournament in wrestling?
The Field For The G1 Climax Is Now Here
They’d announce the names one by one at Wrestle Grand Slam. Starting with the A-Block, the winner of the last two years Kota Ibushi is of course in. Tetsuya Naito is in A-Block as well, meaning they’ll have another dangerous clash soon. Shingo Takagi is in the A-Block, which is already stacked. SANADA would be the first name in B-Block, joined by Taichi soon after. Zack Sabre Jr. is in the A-Block, while Toru Yano is there as well with Tomohiro Ishii.
YOSHI-HASHI would join the B-Block, and his tag team partner Hirooki Goto was right there with him. Jeff Cobb would be in the B-Block, and Yujiro Takahashi would join A-Block. KENTA is back and in the A-Block, while EVIL in B-Block. Tama Tonga is back in the G1, in the B-Block, with Tanga Loa in the A-Block. Making their G1 debut is Chase Owens, who is in the B-Block. Another debut in Great-O-Khan is in the A-Block, filling that field. Kazuchika Okada & Hiroshi Tanahashi would finish up the B-Block, meaning another classic is coming.
Two Stacked Blocks
They did a solid job splitting up the talent between both blocks this year, though some fans are not happy with Chase Owens & Guerillas of Destiny getting spots. Fans were hoping for some outside names from AJPW or NOAH, or even Aaron Henare. However, we have some great matches on the horizon, and G1 Climax 31 should be an epic one.
