When Jon Moxley sent off some challenges to NJPW for someone to fight – only one man was brave enough to accept. Satoshi Kojima is one of their most cherished legends, and even at 50 years old? He is as tough as ever. However, Moxley is pissed off that this old man thinks he can step up like this, and beat someone in their prime. So while he does respect Kojima? Respect won’t exist in the ring, where he will look to end Kojima.
Satoshi Kojima Gets A Massive Ovation
One of the most decorated champions in professional wrestling history, Kojima got a great reaction. However, Jon Moxley is one of AEW’s biggest stars and when he came through the crowd they would be singing along to Wild Thing. Excalibur would tout the lariat of Kojima, which he learned from Stan Hansen himself.
They would start off by trading chops in the middle of the ring, before moving to forearm strikes. Moxley would hit a knee and hit the ropes, before being run down with a shoulder tackle. Kojima would pop his pecs, and look for the Cozy Lariat, but Moxley smartly left the ring and got hit with a vaulting body press.
Moxley would get into the ring, only to dive back outside onto Kojima before a Russian Leg Sweep into the barricade. Back in the ring, Kojima would have his hand stomped and attacked. Moxley would lay in some heavy chops in the corner, all while talking trash. However, Moxley turned it around and nailed the Machine Gun Chops! A running elbow to the far corner would be followed by the elbow drop from the top rope!
Jon Moxley Drops Kojima On His Head
Kojima would get a two count before looking for the rolling lariat, being caught with a back suplex instead. Moxley would call for a brainbuster, before Kojima would put him on the top rope, biting him before a superplex. Kojima would take a DDT on the apron, before hitting one of his own in the ring for a two count.
Moxley would block the Koji-Cutter into a Rear Naked Choke, before moving into the launching suplex for a two count. Going right into a Cross Armbreaker, Moxley would hit a knee strike. He’d look for Paradigm Shift, before Kojima hit the brainbuster. Kojima would look for the Cozy Lariat, but Moxley would dodge and get a German Suplex.
Moxley would hit a lariat, but Kojima barely registered that it happened. One from his left arm would stun Moxley for the Koji-Cutter, but couldn’t make the cover. A rolling elbow would see Moxley explode back into a King Kong Lariat, before going for the Bulldog Choke. Kojima would survive and hit some Mongolian Chops, before taking two Paradigm Shifts for the win.
Kojima was treated like a legend in this match, which was well deserved. Moxley wrestles the NJPW style well, making him a natural opponent for Kojima. They didn’t do anything insane, but had a very good match which the crowd was into. Match Rating: 3/5 (***)
After the match was over, Kaze Ni Nare would hit. The King was here. A man who Moxley has faced once, and Minoru Suzuki was smelling blood in the water. The grandfather of MMA, and one of the most sadistic men in wrestling history. The crowd understood the assignment and did the KAZE NI NARE chant as Suzuki confronted Moxley and hit some forearm strikes. They’d laugh each other’s attacks off before Suzuki applied the Rear Naked Choke and hit the Gotch Style Piledriver. Will Suzuki be on Dynamite this Wednesday?
