Following a hard fought battle with Satoshi Kojima, Jon Moxley would be confronted by one of the biggest badasses in the world of professional wrestling. Minoru Suzuki is here in AEW, and he’d drop Moxley with a Gotch Style Piledriver. However tonight in the hometown of Jon Moxley, they will do battle as Suzuki looks to avenge a loss from NJPW in 2020.
Minoru Suzuki Is Here!
Before Suzuki even left the stage, there was a holy shit chant breaking out. Suzuki’s music was cut off early, a consequence of TV time. Moxley would make his way through the hometown crowd, and the big energy was insane. This one wasn’t going to be pretty. Moxley had some big matches with Nagata & Kojima recently, but Suzuki is a different beast – and he knows this.
They’d trade some forearm blows in the middle of the ring, before moving to big boots. Neither man wanted to fall, and Suzuki laughed off the kicks before some palm strikes. Moxley was taken to the ropes, where Suzuki slapped on an armbar, and masterfully used the five count.
Jon Moxley Survives
The arm of Moxley was wrapped around the steel post, and back in the ring it’d be cranked into a kimura lock. Moxley was let free, before hitting some chops, and having Suzuki kick him down with ease. Suzuki would be run down with a King Kong Lariat, going after Moxley again and getting bit. He’d bite back, before trading headbutts until both men fell.
Suzuki would go for the Gotch Style Piledriver, but Moxley fought his way free and hit a Paradigm Shift. Bleeding out of his right eye, Suzuki would absorb multiple lariats, and hit his classic running dropkick, Moxley would punch him in the face and hit the lifting Paradigm Shift for the win.
This was a short but never sweet brawl of a match. They absolutely beat the hell out of each other, with Moxley surviving more than winning. It was similar to their NJPW match, but less outside brawling and a more condensed length – but all the violence. Match Rating: 3.5/5 (*** 1/2)
