One of the biggest upcoming possibilities on WWE Raw is who will win the race to the most WWE Championships with Randy Orton and Charlotte Flair currently the frontrunners.
Remember the homerun competition between Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire in the mid 90s that revitalized baseball when it was on life support? This could be taken along those lines by fans.
Ric Flair previously said that he wanted to see Orton break his record, but recently he stated he thinks his daughter, Charlotte, will be the one to break his record.
Out of the two of them Orton is closer to the goal than Charlotte as he has 14 to Charlotte’s 12. It’s fair to point out Charlotte has 14 but two are NXT championships and the WWE doesn’t recognize those.
Of course, Ric’s wins are more along the line of 22, but the WWE picks and chooses what history it accepts like the NXT championships counting with the main brands.
It makes sense given developmental league stats don’t carry over to the pros, and the same with those set in another league.
Quick runs
We recently saw Nikki A.S.H cash in her MITB contract on flair for a few weeks run before Charlotte won, giving her an extra tally.
It’s been argued that’s why Orton defeated Drew McIntyre for a short reign a few months back.
And now Orton has a chance to add to his total on tonight’s WWE Raw if he can defeat Bobby Lashley.
But there’s a possible twist and it comes in the form of Big E saying he’ll be at Raw tonight, and since Lashley and Orton’s WWE Championship match was moved here from Extreme Rules.
New Day reunion
Since it’s been teased the New Day will be reunited on Raw after the draft, this could be a teaser for that or Big E could cash in his MITB contract and claim the WWE Championship tonight.
Maybe even from Orton if he can defeat Lashley.
It’d be another short reign, but at this point it’s more about the numbers than length of right.
In the end, the numbers will be what the WWE and Vince McMahon say they are as who wins what match.
It’s definitely going to be fun to see how this works out tonight and down the road to claim the coveted spot with the most championships.
