When it comes to iconic theme songs from WWE over the past few years, The Undisputed Era’s theme is just about as good as any that WWE produced. This made the follow up theme song of Adam Cole a disappointment to many fans. However Mikey Rukus knocked it out of the park with the first theme song of Cole in AEW. It has gotten near universal praise from fans, and sounds like something for a main event talent. Rukus has now revealed some of the process behind this new theme song.
Adam Cole’s New Theme Song Is A Combination Of Calm Like A Bomb & Something For You
One thing that fans immediately compared it to was the Undisputed Era theme song, but that wasn’t even taken into consideration – though his old ROH theme was. Taking to Twitter, Rukus would state the following. “I did not draw inspiration for Adam Coles new theme from the UE theme. I felt the Rage vibe really fit him. Calm Like A Bomb, but slower. He loved “Something For You”, so I incorporated the drum beat from the verses. The lyrical delivery was a combo of both of those songs.”
Rukus was also the one doing the vocals on the song, which was revealed when he corrected a fan who theorized it was Josiah Williams. He has done a great job for AEW so far, in working with talent to really give them good music that suits them. This is in stark contrast to WWE, who will strip someone of their theme song and send them out with something unfinished for months on end.
AEW Has Done Well By Everyone With Their Music
If AEW has done anything right over their short life – it has been their theme songs. While they’re not all as good as “All About Tha Boom”, everyone from Fuego Del Sol to Shawn Dean to one time names like Nick Gage or Warhorse got fantastic theme songs.
Rukus would explain why he feels this way in another tweet. “Every pro wrestler on this planet deserves to have their very own entrance theme. The kid coming out of training school is just as important as the world champion who’s on national television. If you are a producer and don’t believe this, you’re starting off on the wrong foot.”
