It’s time to run down the stuff you might have missed in WWE this week. Even if you watch Smackdown, RAW and NXT 2.0, you’re going to miss stuff. WWE pushes out a ton of content every week, and some of it is just for the fans in the arena. Let’s break down the dark matches, Main Event and 205 Live.
Smackdown Live Brought John Cena After The Show
This past Friday, Smackdown Live was in the world’s most famous arena, and they put on a huge show. While there were only three matches on TV, including a huge rematch between Seth Rollins & Edge – fans in the arena got six matches. Before the show started, Charlotte Flair defeated Rhea Ripley to defend the RAW Women’s Championship.
After the televised main event, Drew McIntyre beat Happy Corbin, and biggest of all – John Cena was in the building. John Cena would team with Dominik & Rey Mysterio to defeat Roman Reigns & The Usos. Cena had his last televised match in the main event of Summerslam 2021, where Reigns had defeated him. Not televising a match like this is odd, but a nice treat for the paying fans.
Main Event & 205 Live Fail To Generate Much Interest
Before WWE RAW this week, Main Event was taped like always. Two matches like always, starting with Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo vs. The Lucha House Party. Garza has been pushed to the side by WWE, but might be a babyface now judging by him teaming with Carillo. There were able to get the win, and could find their way to RAW soon. They’d also have Jaxson Ryker defeat Drew Gulak.
The new era of WWE NXT with NXT 2.0 comes with the usual fare for 205 Live. It’s no longer Cruiserweight focused, but they’re getting close to a perfect format. Three matches were taped for this Fridays episode, with one focused on the female roster, one heavyweight, and one that was more or less Cruiserweights. Valentina Feroz defeated Amari Miller, Boa defeated Malik Blade and Trey Baxter defeated Andre Chase, who’s only 9 pounds over 205 so why not.
