AEW Rampage has already had its ups and downs. With it being the place where CM Punk made his debut. However, the viewership has been dipping since the Last Dance episode of Rampage. Where CM Punk took up over half of the show. That show went over 1 million, but since then, Rampage has been hitting an average of around 600,000, but what is going wrong?
Why is AEW Dynamite starting to hit a constant of over 1 million and beating Raw in the 18-49 Demo and Rampage is slowly going downhill. AEW is starting to have the roster that can make two shows as good as each other, but why isn’t it?
Make it two hours
It seems there are a few changes that need to happen too Rampage sooner rather than later. One of them is the fact it’s 1 hour. It feels like 2 hours of a wrestling is the sweet spot. With 3 hours becoming near-unwatchable and 1 hour goes way too quickly and feels like it’s not really worth watching. AEW now has the roster for another 2-hour show. With rumours of it growing, they have the roster to build two 2 hours shows easily. Next week’s Grand Slam will be a 2-hour event and will hopefully be a test run for whether Rampage goes 2 hours or not.
Lack of surprises
The big fault that comes with AEW Rampage is that’s it’s very easy to see the results before the show airs. Due to it being recorded on the same night as Dynamite. This, however, completely ruins the feel of anything that can happen in AEW. As it’s pre-recorded, no big surprises can happen as they will just be leaked by Friday. Meaning that the only way to get this element of what makes AEW so good is making the second show live.
