When it comes to big names released from WWE over the past year, you can’t get much bigger than Braun Strowman. The Monster Among Men was a steady fan favorite in WWE, and was even the WWE Universal Champion for most of 2020 – winning the belt from Goldberg at Wrestlemania.
Despite all this, he was cut due to budget reasons from WWE. Since then, he’s been keeping his head down in terms of professional wrestling – though did have a cinematic match with EC3. However, we now might know where to expect him to truly make his return to the ring.
Braun Strowman Is In Talks With AEW – But It’s More Likely He Makes An Impact First
In a report from Fightful Select, we would learn that Braun Strowman is in talks with two major companies right now. The first is All Elite Wrestling, who are on their way to being a serious contender for the title of biggest promotion in the United States. There have been rumors about him signing there for a while, and we now have confirmation that talks did in fact occur – but the situation still seems unlikely.
However, he might have found a home in Impact Wrestling. This would obviously be a massive get for Impact, as Strowman would instantly bring some fans to the promotion. He’d likely be an instant pick to become the Impact World Heavyweight Champion – and could be someone they build around in the coming years. Being in Impact Wrestling also opens up doors to NJPW and AEW – two promotions that Impact have been working with closely as of late.
Impact Wrestling Would Benefit Greatly – And Braun Could Be A Major Focus There
This is the most mutually beneficial place for Strowman to go. In AEW, he risks getting lost in the shuffle like Lance Archer does, even though he’s a top talent. They simply have more than they know what to do with – and the line to become AEW World Heavyweight Champion is getting longer and longer.
Having someone like Strowman in Impact Wrestling however? That’d be huge. He has some big hoss fights waiting with W. Morrisey, Moose, Joe Doering, and even Rhyno. Strowman could be a game changing name for Impact – which could push them back into the spotlight in a way that even Kenny Omega could not. While news is sparse on this front, Strowman is free to sign and show up whenever – but could be saved for a PPV debut.
