The war between both AEW and WWE is only just beginning. AEW has yet to beat one of the WWE main shows in the viewership as a whole. However, it is getting closer, with AEW Dynamite constantly hitting over 1 Million views. Dynamite has also beaten Raw in the important 18-49 Demo on a couple of occasions. However, now AEW’s biggest challenge is approaching. With WWE Smackdown announcing that next week’s show will be 2 and a half hours rather than it’s two, meaning that it will run over into the AEW Rampage scheduled for that night. Tony Khan has now responded to this on Twitter and is ready to beat Smackdown.
Tony Khan Reaction to Smackdown Challenge
On Twitter, Tony Khan said this:
“I saw you’re doing a half-hour head-to-head with us. I can’t wait to finally beat your main show head-to-head. It’s been a long time coming. See you next Friday for #AEWRampage on @AEWonTNT!”
The matches have been set for both shows
It does seem like both sides consider this a challenge, with both Smackdown and Rampage already announcing their matches for next week.
Smackdown has Becky Lynch Vs. Sasha Banks, Finn Balor Vs. Sami Zayn, Carmella Vs. Zelina Vega and an appearance from Brock Lasner and the in-ring return of Sonya Deville.
While Rampage has CM Punk Vs. Matt Sydal, Ruby Soho Vs. Bunny, and Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara and Jake Hager Vs. Men of the Year and former UFC Champion Junior Dos Santos.
However, Smackdown is going into this with a handicap, with Smackdown set for FS1 instead of FOX. This viewership does massively change when the channel changes, making it possible that AEW could win this one.
