Hikaru Shida has done a lot in AEW, notably being the longest reigning AEW World Women’s Champion. Tonight on the second anniversary of AEW Dynamite – she looks to make more history as she seeks to become the first woman in AEW to hit 50 wins as she takes on Serena Deeb. Deeb is back from injury – and is ready to make an impact.
Dante Martin Fades To Black
Before this match, we’d see Dante Martin get a quick interview. He’s been on a roll, got on the cover of the PWI 500 for his battle with Kenny Omega in a six man tag. Martin would press his luck by calling out for someone to battle him. The lights went out, and Malakai Black was behind him. Black Mist – Black Mass, and Martin’s lights were out.
Black accepted the challenge, and Martin got way more than he bargained for. They will clash very soon, and it’s the biggest match of the career of Dante Martin. A win over Malakai Black would make him into a star – but even a strong fight would help his career.
Hikaru Shida Fails To Get #50
Shida and Deeb would lock up, with Deeb being in the ring for the first time in months. She didn’t miss a step and would show why Dean Malenko gave her the name “The Women of 1000 Holds.” However, Shida is no slump – and she’d get Deeb in the corner and hit a stiff dropkick. Deeb was draped over the apron, and nailed the running knee lift. Shida was playing the hits, and set up the chair to hit the launching knee.
Deeb blocked this, and got back into the ring, hitting a neckbreaker in the ropes. She’d take some control of the match, applying the Cobra Twist and drove the elbow into the ribs of Shida. Moving into a cravat, she’d take Shida to the mat – but lost control before taking a Tilt-A-Whirl Backbreaker. Shida would go up top and hit a missile dropkick, getting a two count.Deeb would look for the Deebtox, but took a heavy forearm blow.
Enzuguri dodged, and Gedo Clutch got a two. Shida hit the running knee strike, and Deeb rolled to the outside – and Shida dove out onto her. Back in the ring, Deeb would again take control before taking a front face driver for the two count. Running elbow and Falcon Arrow still wouldn’t do it, and the clubbing knees wouldn’t work. A rake to the eye and Deebtox would get a two count, and Serenity Lock would be next – and Shida tapped!
A strong match between two of the best in AEW’s women’s division. Shida looked great as always, but Deeb is an absolute star. Match Rating: 3.25/5 (*** 1/4)
She’d crack Shida in the head with the trophy, before walking off. What is next for Serena Deeb? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
