The Lucha Bros are now pulling double duty on AEW TV as one of the best tag teams in the world. Not only are they the AEW World Tag Team Champions after beating The Young Bucks, but they’ve also been the AAA World Tag Team Champions. Next week on a special Saturday Night Dynamite – they defend those AAA Championships against a team of Andrade El Idolo’s choice. The only hint was a masked team, which has fans suggesting all types of luchadors – but there’s another option at play here.
AEW Has Enough High Flying Tag Teams
Right now in AEW, there is an abundance of fast paced tag teams. The Lucha Bros, Young Bucks, Santana & Ortiz, TH2, Private Party and more. While some heavy hitting teams exist, they could always use more of that variety – and one team is perfect for that. Since leaving WWE, no one has really heard from The Authors of Pain. They’ve teased a new chapter coming alongside Paul Ellering, but nothing has come of it yet.
While they’re not a masked tag team, there’s nothing stopping them from donning masks similar to the Black Skull mask of Andrade El Idolo, and serving as his muscle. They showed incredible potential in a similar role alongside Seth Rollins in WWE, but an unfortunate injury and their subsequent release would shut that down quickly.
Authors Of Pain Have An Insane Upside
Add in that Authors of Pain are both young talents with a ton of upside, and they fit into the AEW roster perfectly. They can serve as a foundational talent for years to come, fitting in alongside The Four Pillars of AEW and their other rising stars. It would make sense for Andrade to have two proper heavyweights as bodyguards, and could really boost his gimmick and it’s legitimacy.
